Novec 1230 (FK-5-1-12) (fluoroketone C-6) is a colorless transparent liquid with a faint odor that is 1.6 times heavier than water and, most importantly, does not conduct electricity. Its dielectric constant is 2.3 (for a unit, dry nitrogen is taken as the standard).
Visually, the liquid is similar to pure water, but it is a dielectric (does not conduct electric current), weakly wets and is not a solvent - hence called "dry water". The substance in its original form is non-toxic, has an extremely low solubility in water. Weak molecular bonds, disintegrates under the influence of ultraviolet.
Does not affect working electronics, does not destroy paper documents and artwork. These properties have ensured the applicability of Novec 1230 in firefighting systems for server rooms and other electronics, libraries, archives.
Novec ™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is used as gas, but at room temperature is a liquid. It does not conduct an electric current in either liquid or gaseous state.
